Desert Mothers is organizing a 3 day Batik Art hands-on workshop January 18th – 20th, 2013.

The Duo of Jonathan Evans and Beth McCoy-Evans are world famous Batik Artists that have worked in the United States and also been teaching all over the world. With over four decades of experience, Jonathan crafts true-to-life Batik depictions with a distinctive graphic stylishness. The many years of training others includes workshops at the Smithsonian Resident Artist Program

Beth McCoy-Evans on the other hand has been engaged in the art of Batik designing for over two decades and lately in successions of pointillist Batik painting. Beth’s teaching exhibitions covers venues around the world. Just to name a few; at the German Gallerias in the city of Cologne, the renowned Beacon Art Center, in the city of Hastings, United Kingdom as well as the Colorado Academy in Denver.

Only recently the duo of Jonathan and Beth took part in two schedules coaching the art of Batik designs to women who are less fortunate with the goal of using this craft as a means to improve their livelihood. These coaching sessions benefited included Haitian Batik Project in Haiti, as well as right here in Mexico the “Peace Mexico” project.

Jonathan and Beth’s presence in San Felipe will be wonderful opportunity to acquire the knowledge behind the art of creating Batik designs. It does not matter whether you are a beginner as all levels of batik designers are welcome and you are guaranteed to learn something new. Understand elementary techniques in Dye and Wax use, or perhaps your interest Batik painting styles, all this and much more will be covered.

For those who want to build on your existing Batik skills, do feel free to ask all the questions you may have.
