Hi everyone this is Sabina. I have lived here in San Felipe for 6 years and have an extensive knowledge of San Felipe. I worked for the El Dorado Ranch for 2-1/2 years and have also worked for a local contractor here in San Felipe. I have been a property manager here for 2 years running http://www.MySanFelipeVacation.com. I was also a property manager in the states before coming here. I travel back and forth the between here and the United States.
I have heard lots of comments about violence in Mexico, in San Felipe, there is nothing to be afraid of. Yes you have the military checkpoint but they are mainly looking for things like drugs, guns etc. All they ask you to do is please step out of the car and open the doors so that they can look around. Crossing the boarder same thing no problem. If the red light you they take a quick look in the car ask where you are going and you are on your way. That is coming into Mexico. Going back home they ask you if are bring anything with you form Mexico like fruits vegetables that kind of thing, They do a check of your passport a walk around the car sometimes with a mirror to look under the car and then you are on your way.
The road between Mexicali and San Felipe is being expanded, and other than seeing the occasional Federali (Highway Patrol) it is smooth sailing. Should you break down there are green and white trucks that drive the road known as the Green Angles they will help you change a flat or what ever it is that you need help with and get you back on your way.
OH by the way when coming to Mexico the only good cell phone provider of service it ATT. As Like in the states there are some dead areas. Here it is in the mountains but once out of the mountains you are good to go.
It’s always fun to meet folks from all over who are visiting San Felipe…….hope to meet you soon too.
All questions welcome. If there are areas you would like me to write about, drop me an email.
So Please come join us here in San Felipe the sleepy little fishing village.
