Its been a while since I posted…OMG so busy doing this and that, busy doing nothing, busy enjoying life, busy busy, its a tough life but someone has to do it.  This week was highlighted by going to the marina and catching the fishermen as they came in from emptying their crab pots.  Are they fishermen or crabbers? Whatever.  We came from the east coast where we relished the bounty of the Cheasapeake Bay and the abundance of blue crabs.  They are also available down the eastern seaboard and the Gulf of Mexico.  Well here in San Felipe they are also plentiful in the Sea of Cortez, Who Knew? These tasty delights are to die for, well we think so.  This is one item where the Mexican price is cheaper than imagineable.  A mere five kilos, that is 11 pounds, translated into crabs, that is 19 crabs, were only 150 pesos, at 13 pesos to the US dollar that is a little over $11.00 for 19 crabs.  I have paid upwards of $30 for six crabs in Virginia.  WE have been feasting for 2 days now.   You cant get any fresher than picking the live males as they snap their claws at you and taking them home and filling a pot with steamy water, layering the crabs aLternately with old bay seasonings letting the steam do it’s thing for 30 mins or so and these beauties are ready.  If your mouth watering yet? Maybe I better go have a couple more?  Join me? Come to San Felipe.  THis is just one of the secrets……….more to come……
